About the Team

Our team of three manages more than 20 weekly payrolls across multiple businesses, employing people under a range of employment arrangements and industrial instruments. This is a fast-moving payroll environment that requires accuracy, sound judgement and the ability to confidently work through payroll issues and deadlines.

This role will suit someone who has personally processed end-to-end payrolls—not someone whose experience has been limited to payroll administration, data entry or providing support to another payroll officer.

About the role

Based at our Sydney Markets Head Office, you will take responsibility for processing a portfolio of weekly payrolls accurately and on time.

Responsibilities include:

- Processing weekly payrolls from source data through to final payroll checks and completion.
- Reviewing employee hours, leave, allowances, deductions and adjustments for accuracy.
- Interpreting and applying Contemporary Awards, employment conditions and company requirements.
- Setting up new employees and processing employee changes, terminations and payroll adjustments.
- Identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies before payroll is finalised.
- Processing workers compensation payments and maintaining accurate payroll records.
- Completing payroll reconciliations,

month-end reporting and ad hoc analysis.
- Responding to employee and manager payroll enquiries through the shared payroll inbox.
- Contributing to payroll process improvements and other payroll-related projects.

This is a permanent part-time position working three days per week, Monday to Wednesday. A hybrid arrangement is available, with at least one day per week based in the office.

About you

You are an experienced payroll professional who can confidently manage weekly payroll deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy. To be successful, you will have:

- At least three years’ recent Australian end-to-end payroll experience.
- Demonstrated experience personally processing weekly payrolls.
- Experience working across multiple entities, payrolls or employee groups.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and workers compensation requirements.
- Practical experience interpreting and applying Modern Awards and other industrial instruments.
- The ability to investigate payroll discrepancies and resolve issues independently.
- Strong Excel skills, including manipulating data and preparing payroll reports.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing weekly deadlines.
- Clear communication skills and confidence responding to employee and manager payroll queries.

Experience using Access Definitiv, or a similar payroll system, will be highly regarded. Experience applying the Horticulture Award or working in a multi-site operational business would also be an advantage.

What you’ll enjoy

- A genuine three-day position with a consistent Monday-to-Wednesday schedule.
- Ownership of meaningful end-to-end payroll work.
- Support from an experienced and collaborative payroll team.
- Exposure to a complex, multi-business payroll environment.
- Hybrid working arrangements.
- An early-start, early-finish working day.
- Free onsite parking and easy access from Flemington Station.
- Breakfast provided in the office and plenty of fresh fruit.
- The stability of working within one of Australia’s essential industries.
