About the business and the role

Sports and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy has been in business for 9 years. This physiotherapy business is attached to Dr Tongs rooms, an established orthopaedic surgeon having been on the Gold Coast for 24yrs. He has recently been joined by a second orthopaedic surgeon, generalist and spine. The rooms are in Palm Beach incorporating a fully equipped gym, pilates reformer and physiotherapy area.

We have had 2 physiotherapists covering Monday to Friday and 1 of these jobs is available.

The successful applicant will work in close association with the surgeons treating their patients according to pre / post-op protocols as well as treating other general physiotherapy patients.

We are primarily looking for an experienced physio to work 1.5 to 2 days per week ( tue and thur) 12 - 16hrs / week to start paid by commision ( based on current physio FTE $120 - 150 000/ year). Hours can be increased as per patient demand.

Would consider a recently graduated physio to work 4 days per week (salary based on HPE) under the part time mentorship of an experienced senior physio.

Job tasks and responsibilities

See and treat patients; non-op / pre / post-op in close collaboration with orthopaedic surgeons. Adhere to surgeons preferred pre/post surgery protocols.





Maintain an appropriate level of updated notes and reports to allow efficient communication between the doctors and other co-workers.

Build recent clientele / caseload.

Position may include home visits, hydrotherapy at the pool and gym visits with patients.

Skills and experience

This job provides a unique opportunity to gain experience and understanding in treating orthopaedic and sports injury patients, liaising with the orthopaedic surgeons.

For junior physios, direction and training will be provided for orthopaedic protocols.

Physiotherapy qualification and AHPRA registration

Successful applicant will need to complete a criminal history statutory declaration and obtain Australian Federal Police Certificate

Ideal candidate will have at least 3 years post graduate experience, however new graduates will be considered.

Good people / communication skills

Keep up-to date and concise notes/reports to allow efficient communication between the doctors and other co-workers.

Must be efficient and energetic.

Attention to detail, reliable and honest.

Possess a strong work ethic.
