Senior Asset Reliability Engineer
6-Month Contract | Sydney | Energy & Utilities
Our client is a global consulting organisation delivering a strategic asset management program for one of Australia's leading electricity network operators. They are seeking an experienced Senior Asset Reliability Engineer to join their Sydney-based team on an initial six-month contract.
This is an opportunity to work on critical electricity infrastructure, applying your expertise in reliability engineering and asset risk modelling to help improve network performance, optimise asset investment and strengthen long-term reliability outcomes.
The Role
- Analyse asset failure and performance data across electricity network assets
- Map failures to recognised failure modes, mechanisms and root causes
- Develop and enhance asset risk models aligned with established client frameworks and methodologies
- Apply reliability engineering principles to support maintenance, refurbishment and replacement strategies
- Work closely with engineering, operations and asset management stakeholders to validate technical assumptions and recommendations
- Provide practical engineering insight to improve asset health, reliability and network performance
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across asset management practices
About You
- Demonstrated experience in Asset Reliability Engineering,
Asset Management or Asset Performance within the electricity sector
- Strong knowledge of distribution, transmission and/or substation assets
- A solid understanding of reliability engineering, failure analysis and asset risk modelling
- Experience interpreting asset failure and condition data to support engineering decisions
- The ability to apply sound engineering judgement and develop practical, risk-based solutions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

- Electricity distribution or transmission network operators
- Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM)
- FMEA/FMECA methodologies
- Asset Health Index and Asset Criticality modelling
- ISO 55000 Asset Management principles
- Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) platforms
