Job Description

Reliable data doesn't happen by accident — it's built through strong foundations, careful validation and practical engineering.

/n

We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join us on a six‐month contract to lead the migration of audit data from our legacy Laserbeam platform into a Microsoft Fabric data warehouse.

/n

This is a hands‐on delivery role with a transparent primary focus: implementing a reliable migration and Change Data Capture solution that keeps data accurate, synchronised and audit‐ready.

/n

You'll work closely with our Product and Technology teams, following an agreed solution design while independently driving the delivery from end to end.

/n

If you enjoy solving complex data challenges, building reusable solutions and leaving platforms stronger than you found them, this role is for you.

/n

What You'll Be Doing

/n

/n

- Migrate audit tables from the Laserbeam source database into Microsoft Fabric

/n

- Build and operate reliable Change Data Capture pipelines

/n

- Reconcile and validate migrated data to ensure accuracy and integrity

/n

- Work closely with technical stakeholders to understand source structures and dependencies

/n

- Develop a documented, repeatable migration and CDC pattern for future use

/n

- Support and maintain existing data pipelines and flows

/n

- Troubleshoot and resolve data issues as they arise

/n

- Maintain clear technical documentation and operational runbooks

/n

- Identify data warehouse performance and efficiency improvements where capacity allows

/n/n

What You Bring

/n

/n

- Demonstrated hands‐on experience with Microsoft Fabric

/n

- Proven experience designing and implementing Change Data Capture in a Microsoft or SQL Server environment

/n

- Strong SQL and T‐SQL skills

/n

- Solid knowledge of data modelling and data warehousing principles

/n

- Experience building and operating ETL or ELT pipelines within the Microsoft data stack

/n

- Experience delivering source system migrations, including reconciliation and data integrity validation

/n

- The ability to take ownership of a defined deliverable and manage it through to completion

/n/n

Experience across the broader Microsoft Azure data ecosystem, data governance, CI/CD for data, Power BI, insurance or financial services would also be highly regarded.

/n

Who You Are

/n

/n

- You're practical, rigorous and outcomes‐focused.

/n

- You understand that a successful data migration is not simply about moving information — it's about ensuring the data remains accurate, reliable and usable throughout the transition.

/n

- You're comfortable working independently within an agreed technical design, while collaborating closely with others to solve problems and deliver a solution the wider team can reuse.

/n

- You document as you go, take ownership of your work and balance project delivery with the need to keep existing platforms reliable.

/n/n

Who We Are

/n

We are a specialist agricultural underwriting agency focused on farm insurance.

/n

Our aim is simple — to be the obvious choice for brokers, clients and employees by delivering expertise, efficiency and fairness.

/n

As we continue to grow, we invest in our people through hands‐on experience, strong team support and opportunities to contribute to meaningful initiatives.

/n

Our culture is built on empowerment, continuous improvement and creating an environment where people can do their best work.
