Chandler Macleod is partnering with Rio Tinto to recruit an experienced Construction Supervisor to oversee earthworks activities at Queensland Alumina Limited (QAL).

This is an excellent opportunity to join a long‑term project where you'll coordinate contractors, drive safe work practices and play a key role in delivering critical earthworks on dam infrastructure within an operational refinery environment.

With an initial 12-month contract and a strong pipeline of ongoing work, this role offers stability, challenging projects and the opportunity to work alongside experienced site teams.

About the Role As the Construction Supervisor, you'll be responsible for coordinating day‑to‑day earthworks activities while ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements.

Working closely with contractors, operations and site stakeholders, you'll oversee construction activities, monitor progress, manage site risks and keep works moving safely and on schedule.

Key responsibilities include:

- Coordinating daily site works and construction resources
- Reviewing JHAs, risk assessments and protected work documentation
- Managing scope, variations and work priorities
- Monitoring project progress and maintaining delivery schedules
- Building strong relationships with operations, contractors and project teams
- Promoting a strong safety culture across site
- Providing regular progress updates to project stakeholders

About You To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

- Demonstrated experience supervising earthworks projects within heavy industry
- Strong knowledge of dam construction, tailings storage facilities or similar large‑scale earthworks
- Experience coordinating contractors on live industrial sites
- Sound understanding of JHAs, risk assessments and safe work systems
- Background within mining, refining, civil infrastructure or heavy industrial environments
- The ability to confidently communicate with multiple stakeholders and drive project outcomes

Experience working within similar refinery environments, along with exposure to damor tailings operations, will be highly regarded.
