First Year Plumbing Apprentice

About the role

Douglas Drain Solutions is looking for a motivated and reliable First Year Plumbing Apprentice to join our growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity to begin your plumbing career while gaining hands‑on experience in the specialised field of pipe relining. Working directly alongside our Director, you'll learn from an experienced plumber and pipe relining specialist who is passionate about delivering high‑quality workmanship and building a successful business.

Much of our work is completed in partnership with other plumbing companies. This means you'll often attend sites alongside their teams and, where required, wear client‑provided uniforms while delivering our specialist pipe relining services. Professionalism and the ability to represent both Douglas Drain Solutions and our industry partners are essential.

No two days are the same. You'll work across a variety of residential and commercial sites throughout Northern Sydney, Greater Sydney, the Illawarra and as far south as Nowra, assisting with plumbing and drainage works while developing practical skills that contribute towards your formal apprenticeship qualification.

Key responsibilities

- Assist with pipe relining, drainage and general plumbing works.

- Prepare work sites, tools and equipment.

- Learn safe work practices and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.

- Assist with inspections, fault finding and repairs.

- Work closely with the Director to develop practical plumbing and pipe relining skills.

- Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicles.

- Represent Douglas Drain Solutions professionally when interacting with clients and fellow plumbing businesses.

- Attend and successfully complete your off‑the-job apprenticeship training.

- A positive, friendly, and professional attitude.

- Flexibility to work varying hours, including occasional long days when required.

- Reliability, punctuality, and commitment.

- A fast‑learning mindset and eagerness to develop new skills.

- A current driver's licence (or be actively working towards obtaining one) is desirable.

As our work takes us across a large service area, you'll need to be comfortable travelling to job sites throughout Northern Sydney, Greater Sydney, the Illawarra and the South Coast.
