Parcare Support Service is seeking compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our growing team in the Logan region.
This role involves providing person centred support to a participant who is non verbal and may present with behaviours of concern. We are looking for support workers who can build trust, communicate effectively using alternative communication methods, and provide consistent, high quality support that promotes independence, dignity, and quality of life.
Experience supporting non verbal participants is highly regarded. Knowledge of Auslan or alternative communication systems is desirable but not essential.
About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will work closely with the participant, their support network, and the broader Parcare team to provide safe, respectful, and individualised support.
- Providing person centred support to a participant
- Supporting daily living activities and personal goals
- Assisting with community access, social participation, and recreational activities
- Implementing positive behaviour support strategies in line with participant plans
- Building effective communication using participant preferred communication methods
- Supporting emotional regulation and maintaining a calm, structured environment
- Completing accurate progress notes and incident reporting as required
- Promoting participant choice, independence, rights, and inclusion
About You
You are patient, reliable,
and committed to delivering high quality support. You understand the importance of consistency, professional boundaries, and person centred practice.
We would love to hear from applicants who have:
- Experience supporting people with disability, particularly participants who are non verbal and/or have behaviours of concern
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to remain calm and responsive in challenging situations
- Experience using alternative communication methods, visual supports, communication devices, or Auslan (highly regarded)
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary support environment
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or willingness to obtain
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Reliable and insured vehicle
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Smartphone and basic digital literacy for documentation and communication
Qualifications
The following qualifications are highly regarded:
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, Mental Health, or a related field
- Relevant experience in disability support, mental health, community services, nursing, aged care, or allied health support
