We are seeking a motivated and reliable Pathology Services Assistant to join our team in Cairns. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in a laboratory environment, with full on-the-job training provided. As a Pathology Services Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting daily laboratory operations, ensuring samples are handled accurately and efficiently while maintaining high standards of service and patient care.

This is a full-time position operating on a rotating roster. Shifts are scheduled Monday to Friday between 10:00am and 8:00pm, rotating across the following shift times:

10:00am - 6:00pm

11:00am - 7:00pm

12:00pm - 8:00pm

Participating in a Saturday roster (10:00am - 3:00pm) is also a requirement of the role.

Key Responsibilities

- Entering test information into the SNP Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Preparing specimens and consignments for transport.
- Scanning request forms.
- Troubleshooting.
- Adhering to corporate WHS policies at all times.

- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to provide a professional and compassionate experience for patients and healthcare providers.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with a diverse range of patients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- An understanding or willingness to learn medical terminology.
- Strong typing and computer skills.
