The next IT Manager won't be asked to start from scratch. Instead, you'll inherit that work, build on it and help turn it into reality.

About NSW Farmers Association

NSW Farmers Association is the peak representative body for farmers across New South Wales, representing more than 6,500 farming businesses across the state.

With approximately 45 employees, the organisation supports its members through advocacy, workplace relations, commercial partnerships, policy development and a broad range of member services. Technology underpins how those services are delivered, helping staff work more efficiently, improving access to information and delivering better outcomes for members across NSW.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance & Business Services, you'll lead NSW Farmers' standalone internal IT function, partnering closely with the Executive Team, staff, the organisation's managed service provider and specialist technology partners.

As the organisation's dedicated IT Manager, you'll retain ownership of the technology environment while leveraging external expertise where it adds value. This is a broad, hands-on role where you'll remain actively involved in the setting, ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly while driving key technology initiatives forward.





You’ll be trusted to apply sound judgement, balance operational priorities and help guide future technology decisions while remaining closely connected to the day-to-day environment. You'll also have the opportunity to influence where technology is invested and which initiatives are prioritised.

Your responsibilities will span:

- Microsoft 365, Azure, infrastructure and end-user technology
- Cyber security, governance and operational resilience
- Core business systems, including IMIS and Great Plains
- Managed service providers and technology vendors
- Operational support and continuous improvement
- Technology planning and future investment

You’ll be just as comfortable working with technical specialists and technology vendors as you are partnering with business stakeholders to improve how systems support the organisation. While external partners provide specialist expertise, you'll retain ownership of the technology environment and the decisions that shape it.

Just as importantly, you'll help determine what gets done first. This isn't a predetermined project plan. The organisation is looking for someone who brings sound judgement, enjoys broad ownership and wants to help shape how technology continues to support the business.

For someone who enjoys remaining technically hands-on while also influencing the future direction of IT, roles like this don't come along very often.

About You

You’ll bring experience as an IT Manager, ICT Manager, Infrastructure Manager or Technology Operations Manager within a small to mid-sized organisation.

You’ll be comfortable working across infrastructure, cyber security, business systems and vendor management while building trusted relationships with stakeholders throughout the organisation.

You’re equally comfortable solving technical problems, improving business processes and explaining technical concepts in practical, commercial terms.

Experience within a membership organisation, not-for-profit, healthcare, education, government, professional services or a similarly sized organisation will be highly regarded.

Hybrid & Flexibility

The role is based at NSW Farmers' head office in St Leonards.

The organisation operates a hybrid working model of four days in the office and one day working from home each week, together with flexibility around start and finish times where operational requirements allow.
