CoastCare Sydney is seeking compassionate and dedicated mentors to join our growing MentorMate and SisterLink programs. We are currently recruiting:
- Male Mentors to support boys and young men through the MentorMate Program in the Sutherland Shire and Kellyville.
- Female Mentors to support girls and young women through the SisterLink Program in Blacktown and the Sutherland Shire.
This is much more than traditional disability support work. Our mentoring programs focus on building genuine, therapeutic relationships that empower young people to develop confidence, independence, resilience and meaningful community connections.

About Our Programs
MentorMate
MentorMate supports boys and young men living with disability,
trauma backgrounds and psychosocial or behavioural support needs. Our mentors provide positive male role modelling while helping participants build confidence, emotional regulation, social skills and independence.
SisterLink
SisterLink supports girls and young women to develop self-confidence, independence, healthy relationships and life skills through safe, respectful and empowering female mentorship.
Both programs are founded on trauma-informed, person-centred practice and aim to create meaningful, lasting outcomes for participants.
About the Role
As a Mentor, you'll work one-on-one with participants within their local community, supporting them to achieve their NDIS goals while becoming a positive, consistent role model.
Your role may include:
- Supporting community participation and social inclusion
- Attending appointments and recreational activities
- Developing independent living and daily living skills
- Building confidence, resilience and emotional regulation
- Encouraging healthy relationships and positive decision-making
- Supporting participants to achieve individual goals
- Providing consistent mentoring in a safe and professional manner
You'll work collaboratively with Behaviour Support Practitioners, Support Coordinators, families and the wider CoastCare Sydney team to provide high-quality, participant-centred supports.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one community access and mentoring supports
- Build safe, respectful and professional mentoring relationships
- Promote independence, confidence and skill development
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies where required
- Support emotional regulation, routines and daily living skills
- Maintain clear skilled boundaries
- Complete accurate shift notes and incident reports
- Communicate effectively with participants, families and the wider support team
About You
We're looking for mentors who are:
- Compassionate, patient and emotionally intelligent
- Reliable, professional and resilient
- Positive role models who genuinely enjoy working with young people
- Passionate about empowering others to achieve their goals
- Able to work independently while contributing to a supportive team
Experience in disability support, youth work, mental health, psychology, education, social work or community services is highly regarded, but we also welcome applicants with the right values and willingness to learn.
Essential Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
- Australian working rights
- Current Driver Licence
- Reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle (mandatory)
- Ability to travel within your designated service area
- Smartphone for communication and electronic documentation
