You will support Level 1 ASP projects across procurement, engineering, construction support, quality control and handover. The successful applicant must be organised, commercially aware and comfortable moving between office-based engineering tasks and active construction sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with project planning, programming, cost tracking and progress reporting.
- Prepare and manage procurement packages, including material take-offs, supplier enquiries, quotation comparisons and purchase recommendations.
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work and technical requirements before construction.
- Prepare work packs, methodologies, inspection and test plans, hold-point documentation and other project records.
- Track materials, plant, subcontractor deliverables and long-lead items to prevent avoidable project delays.
- Support site teams with technical queries, design clarifications, constructability issues and changes in scope.
- Monitor project costs, variations, quantities, productivity and completion status.
- Inspect completed works and identify defects, non-conformances or discrepancies against the approved design.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, correspondence, registers, photographs and handover records.
- Use Trimble GNSS/GPS survey equipment for set-out, verification and Works as Executed data capture when required.
- Record and process WAE information including coordinates, alignments, depths, levels, offsets and installed asset details.
- Assist in preparing complete, accurate and submission-ready project handover packages.
- Tertiary qualification in civil engineering, electrical engineering, construction engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Relevant experience in civil construction, utilities, electrical infrastructure or a similar project-delivery environment.
- Demonstrated experience with procurement, supplier engagement and engineering support.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, quantities and construction documentation.
- Strong written communication, document-control and problem-solving skills.
- Sound commercial awareness and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confidence working independently in both office and site environments.
- Current Australian driver licence and Construction White Card.
Trimble and WAE Capability
The engineer will be expected to use Trimble equipment and complete Works as Executed data capture as part of their responsibilities. Applicants do not need to be dedicated surveyors, but they must be capable of accurately collecting, checking and managing field data, or be able to demonstrate robust relevant experience and the ability to become competent quickly.
Highly Regarded
- Experience delivering utility, ASP, electrical reticulation, streetlighting, substation or civil infrastructure projects.
- Previous use of Trimble GNSS/GPS equipment, Trimble Access or Trimble Business Center.
- Experience producing WAE mark-ups, survey records and client handover documentation.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS or similar engineering and drafting software.
- Experience with project cost control, variations, claims, scheduling or contract administration.
- Knowledge of NSW utility and network requirements.
What We Are Looking For
This role suits an engineer who takes ownership and closes out tasks properly. We need someone who can purchase the right materials, review technical requirements, maintain reliable records, support the site team and verify what has actually been built. A purely desk-based applicant who avoids site responsibility will not be a strong fit.
