About This Oportunity

Queensland Rail has a fixed term contract People Adviser opportunity, to join our HR Central People Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert advice and support to over 8,000 employees across the organisation.

In this role, you will deliver guidance on a wide range of people and culture matters including policy and enterprise agreement interpretation, salary and entitlements, recruitment and onboarding, performance management, absenteeism, and general people management.

- Fixed term Queensland Rail employment contract to March 2027 (this is a leave backfill and at this stage unable to confirm further extension beyond the end date)
- Brisbane location

Purpose That Counts - Key Responsibilities

- Provide expert HR advice and coaching to leaders on a wide range of HR and ER issues, including performance management, workplace behaviour, and policy application.
- Deliver tailored support on people matters, ensuring compliance with policies, enterprise agreements, and legislation.
- Prepare accurate documentation and reports to support HR operations and maintain compliance with governance principles.




- Processing of employee lifecycle and workflows actions within HR systems.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships by influencing and engaging leaders to implement effective and consistent HR practices across the business.

People Who Count - About you

- Relevant experience as a People Adviser or similar role.
- Proven experience advising employees at all levels with HR matters, such as policy and enterprise interpretation, employment legislation, performance management, absenteeism, and employee complaints/grievances, harassment/bullying.
- Knowledgeable of employment legislation (e.g. Fair Work)
- Exceptional interpersonal communication and written skills.
- Demonstrate high attention to detail.
- Strong time management and organisational skills – ability to balance multiple priorities and a high volume of time-sensitive matters.
- Proactive problem solver.

Exposure to systems such as:

- MS Suite
- SAP, ServiceNow or SuccessFactors
- TRIM
