Who will you be working with?
The position is responsible for the leadership and execution of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and sustainability programs across Wabtec’s operations in Australia and New Zealand. This position leads the regional EHS council to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, critical risk management, effective design and implementation of EHS programs, comply with Wabtec global EHS vision and ensure safe, responsible operations across all ANZ sites.
The role also supports Wabtec’s sustainability objectives by leading regional data collection and inputs for climate‑related disclosures in Australia and partnering with business leaders to integrate EHS and sustainability priorities into day‑to‑day operations.
Where is the position located?
Onsite at our office inRydalmere with travel to other Wabtec sites
What will your typical day look like?
Lead the regional EHS council and ensure implementation of EHS programs and regional priorities.
Develop a Safety Management plan (SMP), with strong focus on critical risks on Wabtec sites. Target industry best practices and ensures regulatory compliance. Align the SMP with Wabtec global standards, including compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement.
Provide leadership, support, and technical guidance to Business and site leadership and EHS professionals to ensure effective deployment of Safety Management plan and safe operations.
Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations across Australia and Recent Zealand, including oversight on incident reporting, permits, inspections, and regulatory interactions.
Monitor regulatory changes and assess potential impacts to regional operations. Ensure changes are incorporated into the management plan on a regular basis
Assist site EHS leaders in level risk management efforts, including risk assessments, hazard identification, and development of risk reduction plans. Lead training initiatives and ensure records are maintained by sites.
Oversee execution of internal EHS audits and ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Partner with Wabtec Freight, Transit, and Digital business leaders within the ANZ region to support alignment on EHS and sustainability priorities and consistent program deployment.
Work closely with operations, engineering,
and supply chain teams to manage environmental and safety risks and implement EHS requirements.
Australian Sustainability Reporting Scheme (ASRS)
- Lead the organization’s readiness for and ongoing compliance with the Australian Sustainability Reporting Scheme (ASRS).
- Develop and maintain sustainability reporting frameworks, policies, procedures and governance structures aligned with ASRS requirements.
- Coordinate the identification, collection and validation of sustainability and climate‑related data, including material risks, impacts and opportunities.
- Establish and maintain internal controls and documentation to support data accuracy, traceability and audit readiness.
- Monitor regulatory developments related to ASRS and translate requirements into practical business processes.
- Act as the primary internal subject matter expert and coordination point for ASRS‑related reporting, assurance and disclosures.
- Support regional sustainability initiatives, including coordination of environmental and emissions data (Scope 1, Scope 2, and relevant Scope 3).
- Lead ANZ inputs and data validation for mandatory climate‑related disclosures in Australia, in coordination with Finance, Legal, and Corporate Sustainability teams.
- Provide regional reporting on EHS and sustainability performance, including leading and lagging indicators, and contribute to global reporting processes.
- Coach and develop regional EHS resources and support capability building in compliance, risk management, and sustainability reporting.
