The Comiskey Group is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Kitchen Hand / Prep Assistant to join our team at The Imperial Hotel in Eumundi, Queensland. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in keeping our kitchen operations running smoothly and efficiently. As a Kitchen Hand / Prep Assistant, you will support our culinary team by ensuring food is prepared to the highest standards whilst maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen workplace. Your contribution directly impacts the quality of service and experience we provide to our guests, making this a fundamental role within our hospitality operation.

Key responsibilities

Prepare fresh produce and ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen, including regular cleaning of work surfaces, equipment and floors

Assist with food storage and stock rotation to ensure ingredients remain fresh and safe for use

Load, operate and unload dishwashing equipment to ensure plates, utensils and cookware are clean and available for service

Support the cooking team by plating dishes and assembling ingredients as directed

Monitor and maintain appropriate temperature standards for food storage and preparation areas

Assist in receiving and storing deliveries of food and kitchen supplies

Follow food safety and hygiene protocols at all times to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations

Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely service

What we're looking for

Previous experience working in a kitchen or food preparation environment is highly desirable

Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices,



including understanding of cross-contamination risks

Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy items

Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness

Ability to work efficiently and calmly during busy service periods

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Willingness to follow instructions and learn from experienced kitchen staff

Reliability and punctuality in meeting work commitments

A genuine interest in hospitality and food preparation
