About the Role

Kambu Health is seeking a General Practitioner to provide high-quality, evidence-based primary healthcare across acute and chronic conditions. The role requires current Australian medical registration, robust clinical assessment, diagnosis, chronic disease management, and preventive care skills. The GP will deliver culturally secure, patient‑centred care, particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Reporting to the Senior Medical Officer, the successful candidate will demonstrate sound clinical governance, quality improvement, effective communication, organisational skills, and proficiency with electronic medical records to ensure safe, accessible healthcare.

Clinic hours: Monday–Friday: 7:00am – 7:00pm, Saturday: 8:00am – 4:00pm (rostered asrequired)

Key Responsibilities

The General Practitioner will deliver comprehensive, evidence-based primary healthcare, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, chronic disease management, preventive care, and health promotion. The role involves providing culturally safe, patient‑centred care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, maintaining accurate clinical records, coordinating referrals, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The GP will participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, accreditation,



and mandatory reporting while ensuring compliance with professional standards, legislation, and organisational policies. The position also requires supporting community empowerment, continuous professional development, and safe, ethical, high‑quality healthcare delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based primary healthcare, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, chronic disease management, preventive care, and health promotion
- Provide culturally safe, patient‑centred care that respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' cultural identity and holistic approach to health and wellbeing
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, client‑focused healthcare and coordinate referrals and ongoing care
- Maintain accurate clinical records, prepare management plans, manage recalls, prescribe medications, and maximise appropriate Medicare (MBS) billing
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, accreditation, risk management, and compliance with legislative, professional, and organisational standards
- Promote Aboriginal community empowerment, support culturally safe practice, and contribute to positive community engagement and health equity
- Maintain professional competence through ongoing training, supervision, performance review, and participation in meetings and after-hours duties as required
- Foster a safe, respectful, and ethical workplace by complying with the Kambu Health Code of Conduct, Quality Management System, workplace health and safety requirements, and relevant legislation

- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, treatment, and care planning skills across acute and chronic conditions, with experience in chronic disease management, preventive healthcare, and coordinated care
- Commitment to delivering culturally safe, trauma‑informed, and patient‑centred healthcare, with an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health needs and priorities
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with patients, families, communities, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Sound knowledge of clinical governance, quality improvement, infection prevention and control, professional standards, and ethical medical practice
- Current registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with demonstrated experience in general practice and comprehensive primary healthcare (Mandatory)
- Current Queensland Open C Class Driver Licence (Mandatory)
- Current Blue Card or willingness to obtain (Mandatory)
- Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain (Mandatory)
