Video | AI | eLearning Content | Creative Production
We don't want what's been done. We want what hasn't.
Blue Dog Training is rebuilding the way tradies experience digital learning, and we're looking for a Videographer + Video Editor who wants to help us create what comes next.
This is a hands‑on creative production role combining videography, editing, AI avatars, generative content, motion graphics and emerging technology to create fresh, contemporary learning content for our eLearning platforms.
We're looking for someone who is fast, effective, creative and technically switched on.
Someone who can shoot it, edit it, generate it and get it out the door.
Because our goal is pretty simple:
Make training content people actually want to watch.
This isn't TV. And we don't want it to be.
We're not looking for cinematic perfection, huge production crews or three days spent polishing a 30 second transition.
Our learners are tradies.
They want content that is clear, useful, genuine and relatable.
Sometimes that's a trainer talking directly to camera on a construction site.
Sometimes it's a practical demonstration in a workshop.
Sometimes it's an AI avatar explaining a concept.
Sometimes it's footage supported by clean graphics, animation and visual callouts.
And sometimes it's an idea none of us have tried before.
We're looking for someone who understands the difference between high quality and overproduced.
Keep it real. Keep it current. Keep it moving.
What you'll be doing
You'll join our Marketing and Engagement team and work with trainers, learning content specialists, compliance experts and creatives to turn technical training into content designed for today's learner.
You'll:
- Film trainers, apprentices and industry professionals across workshops, worksites and training environments
- Edit learning content into sharp, engaging videos that get to the point
- Create AI avatar led content using platforms such as HeyGen and Synthesia
- Experiment with generative video, imagery, voice and emerging AI tools
- Work across Premiere Pro, After Effects and the broader Adobe Creative Suite
- Create motion graphics, overlays, callouts and visual explanations
- Turn technical information into content that's easier to understand and remember
- Produce efficiently across a large pipeline of learning content
- Adapt content for different platforms, formats and audiences
- Work with trainers and subject matter experts to keep content technically accurate and true to industry
- Test new technology, workflows and creative approaches as they emerge
Who we're looking for
You create fast.
You know when something needs another hour and when it doesn't.
You're comfortable producing at pace without letting quality fall apart.
You can shoot AND edit.
You're confident behind the camera and equally comfortable taking raw footage through to a finished piece.
You understand lighting, audio, framing and how to make real people feel comfortable on camera.
You're already playing with AI.
AI isn't something sitting on your future technology list.
You're using it.
Whether that's avatars, generative video, voice, imagery, automation or something we haven't discovered yet, you're interested in how new technology can make production faster, smarter and better.
You experiment.
If there's a better way to create something, you'll probably find it.
We want someone who is curious enough to try things, practical enough to know when they work and confident enough to suggest something completely different.
You understand real people.
You'll be filming trainers and tradies, not professional actors.
We want personality, knowledge and authenticity to come through.
Being able to make someone comfortable enough to forget there's a camera pointing at them is a big part of this job.
You respect the industry.
We're by tradies, for tradies.
Our content needs to reflect the people who actually work in the industry.
We're not interested in stereotypes or making everything look like an advertisement.
We want content that feels genuine because it is.
Your creative toolkit
We're less interested in whether you tick every software box and more interested in what you can actually create.
That said, we'd love experience across:
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Adobe After Effects
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Videography and video editing
- Camera, lighting and audio equipment
- Motion graphics and animation
- HeyGen, Synthesia or similar AI avatar platforms
- Generative AI video and image tools
- AI voice and audio production
- eLearning or LMS content production
Already experimenting with tools we haven't listed?
Even better.
Technology moves quickly. We want someone who moves with it.
What working here looks like
We're serious about what we do, but we're not interested in making work unnecessarily corporate.
Expect flexibility, autonomy, good people, plenty of ideas and room to experiment.
Some days you'll be editing from home.
Some days you'll be filming in a workshop.
Some days you'll be out on site with a trainer.
Some days you'll be testing an AI tool that barely existed six months ago.
You'll have the freedom to bring ideas to the table, challenge how things have traditionally been done and help shape what our next generation of digital learning looks like.
We value people who get things done, respect the people around them and enjoy what they do.
About Blue Dog Training
Blue Dog Training has been delivering practical vocational training since 2004.
We deliver apprenticeship training, vocational education, White Cards, First Aid and CPR, builder training and short courses across Queensland and beyond.
Our team understands the industry because we've worked in it.
We're currently undertaking a major digital learning uplift, rethinking not just what our learning content looks like, but how people experience training online.
We're not interested in recreating traditional training videos with newer cameras.
We want to create what comes next.
The practical stuff
- Full time
- Brisbane based
- Hybrid flexibility
- Regular filming across our training locations, workshops and worksites
- Some travel across South East Queensland will be required
- If you don't currently hold a Blue Card, Blue Dog Training will support the successful candidate through the application process
Experience in an RTO, education, construction or trades environment is useful, but it's not essential.
Understanding and respecting the audience is.
An important requirement before you apply
This role involves working in environments with school aged students, so eligibility to hold a Queensland Working with Children Blue Card is an essential requirement of the position.
You don't need to already have a Blue Card when you apply. Blue Dog Training will support the successful candidate through the application process.
However, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Blue Card.
Please ensure you meet the Queensland Blue Card eligibility requirements before applying.
Show us what you've made
A portfolio, showreel or examples of your work are essential.
But don't just send us the glossy stuff.
Show us the clever edit.
The AI experiment.
The piece you shot and turned around ridiculously quickly.
The project where you tried something different.
The content that actually worked.
We're interested in how you think, how you create and where you think video is going next.
Think you could change what trade training looks like?
We'd like to see what you've got.
