HRI is seeking an experienced Accountant to join the Finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant is responsible for ensuring complete and accurate transactional information is maintained and provides support to the Finance Manager in the delivery of grant reporting, statutory reporting, regulatory reporting, treasury management and fixed assets management.

About you:

With a minimum of 3 years' proven accounting experience, you are a highly motivated and organised individual with excellent financial skills. You are working towards (or have completed) study for a CPA/CA qualification and demonstrate resilience and adaptability throughout your day-to-day tasks. You have the ability to work efficiently and within deadlines, whether that means working individually or as part of a small highly focused team.

Core responsibilities:

- Treasury management, including bank reconciliations and cash flow forecasting.
- Accuracy and integrity of financial records, including prepayments, accruals, unspent grants balance and intercompany journals.




- Prepare statutory accounts and support the external audit process.
- Review grant applications and budgets to provide relevant information to Lab Heads and Grant Manager.
- Prepare grant acquittals for approval within the agreed timeframes, including interim acquittals as required for internal purposes.

Skills:

- Relevant Bachelors’ degree in Commerce, Accounting or other relevant field.
- Graduate of Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand or CPA or equivalent; or working towards.
- Medical research, not-for-profit or higher education industry experience, including but not limited to grant management and ACNC and other regulatory obligations.
- High attention to detail.
