As our business continues to grow, we are seeking experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanics to join our team and support our expanding operations.
Position Summary
The Heavy Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing heavy vehicles to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance with Australian road regulations. This role requires strong technical expertise in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on heavy vehicles, including trucks and commercial vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults using diagnostic equipment and manual testing methods
- Repair or replace defective components including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, steering systems, and hydraulic components
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle downtime
- Complete roadworthiness checks and ensure vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and parts usage reports
- Liaise with service advisors, parts departments, and management regarding repair requirements
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer standards and workplace procedures
- Adhere to workplace health and safety policies and maintain a clean and secure working environment
- Provide on-site, breakdown, or roadside assistance when required
Skills and Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, or equivalent
- Proven experience working with heavy vehicles, trucks, or commercial fleets
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, braking systems, and electrical systems
- Experience using diagnostic tools and interpreting technical manuals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Valid driver’s licence (HR/HC licence preferred but not essential)
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with European or international truck brands
- Experience in fleet maintenance environments
- Familiarity with OEM service standards and warranty procedures
Working Conditions
- Full-time position based in Arndell Park, NSW
- Workshop-based role with occasional travel for field service or breakdown support
- Overtime may be required based on operational needs
