As we continue to expand our product development capability, we’re looking for a skilled Project Manager to take ideas from raw concept to commercial success.

The Role

The Project Manager (Product Development) leads cross-functional teams to deliver complex hardware and software solutions from concept to production. This role manages technical, financial, and schedule baselines. The position bridges the gaps between Leadership, Product Management, Engineering and Commercial frameworks to deliver capability to our customers safely, on time, and on budget.

This is a 2 yr contracted term in line with Grant funding- extension to term very probable.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the full product lifecycle from initial concept, rapid prototyping and through to production readiness.
- Work closely with Product Management to ensure clear product requirements and strategic product roadmap goals are met
- Work closely with the Innovation Manager to manage formal engineering stage-gates and deliverable milestones including Design Reviews, Risk Analysis, Alpha and Beta testing
- Manage development and manufacturing partner deliverables, ensuring adherence to critical milestones and statement of work compliance.
- Work with both internal and external development teams to ensure compliance, verification and validation targets are met
- Assist in the development of, and adherence to best-practice product development processes across both Software and Hardware projects.
- Develop, maintain and regularly report on individual project and integrated program master schedules
- Ensure compliance with project timelines as they relate to Grant and/or Government funding deliverable milestones.




- Manage project budgets, variance analysis, and estimated completion reporting to provide clarity to senior leadership.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, and steering committees regarding project and program delivery.
- Maintain the project Risk, Opportunity, and Issues register with proactive mitigation strategies.
- Navigate international trade regulations, including ITAR and Export Control frameworks.

Qualifications and Experience

- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Design Discipline relating to Product Development, or equivalent technical experience.
- Formal project management training or certification
- Demonstrated experience working within Defence, aerospace, or industrial sectors.
- Proficiency in project management tooling (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, Cobra).

Ideal Work Experience and Skills mix

- 5+ years of experience delivering complex Electromechanical and Software programs in defence, aerospace or industrial sectors.
- Experience managing projects within external funding frameworks
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time whilst paying strict attention to detail
- Ability to be agile and adaptable to changing priorities as commercial opportunities shift.
- Deep understanding of electronic and mechanical hardware development processes, manufacturing requirements, tooling, and supply chain constraints.
- Deep understanding of Software development processes and constraints,



including full lifecycle management and sustaining requirements
- Solid leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional, highly technical teams.
- Exceptional communication skills for presenting technical data to non-technical stakeholders.
