Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in our Perinatal & Women's Health ward.
Desirable qualifications and requirements:
Ability to work casual shifts over a 7-day rotating roster, weekends and nights included.
Relevant TAFE Certificate eg. Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
Knowledge of recovery-oriented mental health care and trauma-informed practice.
Experience working in a mental health, psychiatric, disability, aged care or rehabilitation setting including women's health
Ability to provide clinical practice and care that is consistent with the hospital's requirements.
Understanding of the Mental Health Act and patient rights (desirable but can also be provided during orientation)
Typical responsibilities
Assist patients with activities of daily living where required.
Engage therapeutically with patients and encourage participation in their treatment program.
Support patients to attend groups and activities.
Assist with patient observations as delegated.
Report changes in a patient's presentation, mood or behaviour to the Registered Nurse.
Assist in maintaining a safe and therapeutic ward environment.
Support meal service and encourage adequate nutrition and hydration.
Escort patients within the hospital as required.
Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges.
Maintain accurate documentation within their scope of practice.
Participate in multidisciplinary care under RN direction.
Required personal competencies:
Effective time management and coordination skills
Awareness and practice of legislation affecting nursing practice and health care
Able to conduct a comprehensive and systematic mental health assessment
Demonstrated high standards of skilled and ethical practice
Promotes safety, security and personal integrity in the workplace
Ability to work with minimal supervision
