A leading Australian construction and infrastructure organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant to join the finance team on an initial 6-month contract, supporting a period of business transformation and integration.
Working within a large, complex organisation undergoing changes across business units, this role will focus on ensuring payroll accounting processes are accurate, reconciled, and aligned with the general ledger.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform payroll account reconciliations and ensure payroll balances accurately reconcile to the GL
- Support month-end close activities relating to payroll accounting
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies across payroll accounts
- Partner with offshore support teams to ensure accurate and timely completion of payroll-related activities
- Assist with process improvements during an ongoing period of organisational change
About You:
- Proven experience in payroll accounting within a large, complex environment
- Strong understanding of payroll reconciliations, month-end processes, and GL alignment
- Comfortable working with high-volume payroll environments (supporting thousands of employees)
- Solid attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve issues independently
- Experience working with offshore teams would be advantageous
