Link-Up (NSW) Aboriginal Corporation (Link-Up) assists all eligible Aboriginal people who have been directly affected by past government policies; being separated from their families and culture through forced removal; being fostered, adopted or raised in institutions. Link-Up supports the healing journeys of those removed delivering professional, culturally sensitive and confidential research, reunions and Social, Emotional and Wellbeing services.

We are seeking a compassionate, organised and motivated Family History Researcher to undertake family history and eligibility research that supports Aboriginal people on their healing journey. This is a rewarding role where your research can directly contribute to reconnecting individuals and families with their history, identity and community, although.

Working within a culturally safe and supportive team, you will conduct historical and genealogical research, maintain accurate client records and work collaboratively with internal staff and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes for clients.

About the Role

Reporting to Youth and Community (YAC) Manager you will:

Conduct family history and eligibility research using historical records, archives and genealogical resources.

Prepare accurate research reports and maintain confidential client records.

Maintain accurate records using the national Foxtrot database and other information systems.

Work collaboratively with internal teams and external organisations to support positive client outcomes.

Participate in quality assurance activities including file audits.

Build respectful relationships with Aboriginal communities, government agencies and service providers.

Maintain at all times Privacy and Confidentiality.

About you:

You will bring:

Experience in research,



genealogy, archives, records management or a similar field.

Excellent research, analytical and problem- solving skills.

Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear reports.

High Level organisational and time management skills.

ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.

Well-developed computer skills including Microsoft Office and data systems

Understanding of Aboriginal history, particularly the impact of the Stolen Generations and past government policies.

A respectful and culturally sensitive approach to working with Aboriginal communities.

Qualifications in Community Services, History, Genealogy, Archives, Social Sciences or a related discipline.

Experience conducting family history or archival research.

Knowledge of NSW Aboriginal communities and available support services.

Ability to work full-time

Ability to travel when required

Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.

Working With Children Check

National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
