As Manager Planning and Community Development, you will lead Council’s planning and community development functions to deliver positive, measurable outcomes for the West Coast community and the organisation.

Bringing strategic insight, practical judgement and a team-oriented leadership style, you will guide the Planning and Community Development team while providing high-quality advice to the Leadership Team and Council across all areas of responsibility.



The position contributes to organisation-wide leadership by supporting sound operational decision‑making, strengthening strategic direction and improving service delivery in ways that make a visible difference for local communities.

A key part of the role is managing the delivery of public health services and overseeing Council’s regulatory and compliance obligations, including parking, environmental health, planning, and building. The role ensures Council supports its community through effective place‑making, clear information, and initiatives that enable residents to make informed decisions. It also plays a central part in Council’s engagement with community groups and local businesses, building strong relationships and shared outcomes.

The position manages and implements programs that enhance the wellbeing, resilience, and prosperity of West Coast communities and businesses. It develops and delivers projects and initiatives that support growth, respond to change, and strengthen the region’s long‑term future.
