About This Opportunity

We are seeking a diligent and organised Senior Research Project Officer to provide specialist research and technical support for an MRFF-funded mental health research project within the First Nations Cancer and Wellbeing Research Program. In this collaborative and purpose-driven environment, you will contribute to a multidisciplinary research program exploring the impacts of climate change and extreme weather events on mental health in Queensland, supporting evidence-based strategies that strengthen community resilience and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Coordinating aspects of the research project lifecycle, including planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation to support successful project outcomes.
- Managing research databases, including data cleaning, preparation, quality checking, and documentation of linked administrative datasets.
- Undertaking quantitative data management and analysis using statistical software such as R under the guidance of senior researchers.
- Supporting research administration including reporting, ethics processes, funding applications, stakeholder engagement activities, and dissemination of findings.

This is a part time (0.6 FTE), fixed-term position through until 30 April 2027 at HEW Level 6.

About You

- Completion of a relevant degree in health services, data science, public health or a related field, with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including coordinating research activities within a multidisciplinary research environment and monitoring timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Strong knowledge of quantitative health research methods, including epidemiological approaches, literature reviews, and preparation of research outputs.
- Proven experience in data management and statistical analysis, including preparation, cleaning, and analysis of linked administrative datasets using software such as R.
- Highly developed problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and adapt in a energetic setting.




- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to produce clear documentation and liaise effectively with stakeholders.
