HEH Civil is an established, locally owned civil construction organisation delivering infrastructure projects across Far North Queensland and South East Queensland. In line with our continued growth, we are seeking a suitably experienced Commercial Manager to provide strategic leadership and oversight across the organisation's commercial function.
The Position
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Commercial Manager will assume responsibility for the governance, performance and delivery of HEH Civil's commercial and contractual obligations. The role encompasses contract governance, commercial risk management and financial oversight across the organisation's project portfolio.
Working in close collaboration with Project Managers, Finance and operational leadership, the successful candidate will be responsible for strengthening the organisation's commercial frameworks and supporting the profitable and compliant delivery of projects.
This is a Cairns-based appointment offering genuine flexibility. Part-time, fixed-term, consulting arrangements will be considered in order to secure the most suitable candidate.
Key Accountabilities
Provide strategic leadership across the commercial management and governance of HEH Civil's contracts
Oversee contract administration, including the management of payment claims, variations, disputes and commercial risk
Direct the organisation's budgeting, forecasting and project cost reporting functions
Lead procurement activities, subcontract negotiations and tender evaluations
Provide expert commercial advice to the General Manager and broader leadership team, and mentor project personnel in sound commercial practice
Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrated commercial leadership experience within the civil construction, infrastructure or engineering sectors
Comprehensive understanding of construction contracts, procurement principles and commercial risk management
Proven financial management capability across forecasting, reporting and cost analysis
Highly developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement capabilities
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Law, Accounting, Engineering or a related discipline (desirable)
