Head of Technology & Cyber Security | Federal Government
About the Opportunity

- Lead a skilled, multi-disciplinary technology and security function, spearheading strategy implementation across modern enterprise architecture, cloud platforms, and cyber resilience.
Role & Responsibilities
- Drive Strategic Implementation: Execute the Information, Digital & Technology (IDT) strategy across cloud platforms, applications, infrastructure, data, and cyber security in alignment with enterprise architectural principles.
- Executive Governance & Communication: Author high-quality board papers, ministerial briefings, and risk frameworks, translating complex technical concepts into clear insights for executive and non-technical stakeholders.
- Lead Cyber & Risk Posture: Act as the Information Technology Security Advisor (ITSA), establishing and maintaining pragmatic security policies, compliance frameworks, and incident reporting mechanisms.
- Financial & Commercial Oversight: Manage ICT procurement activities, vendor contract performance, value-for-money outcomes, and overall budget management for the technology function.
- Empower Capability & Team Delivery: Mentor, coach, and scale a small,
high-performing technical team, implementing prioritization frameworks and removing organisational blockers to optimise delivery.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this position, you will ideally bring:
- Technical Toolkit: Deep knowledge across modern ICT architecture (cloud, infrastructure, data, integration), digital service design principles, and contemporary cyber security frameworks.
- Experience: 7+ years of demonstrated experience in similar ICT leadership or technology management roles, ideally within complex enterprise or government environments.
- Core Capabilities: Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record in financial management, vendor negotiation, and translating technology strategy into measurable business outcomes.
- Leadership & Influence: Advanced leadership skills with the ability to influence at the executive level and foster a high-performing team culture through change and competing priorities.
Eligibility & Clearance Requirements
- Security Clearance: Due to the nature of this setting, candidates must have the capacity to hold an Australian Government security clearance (Australian Citizenship required). A pre-employment medical and valid Australian Driver's Licence are also required.
