Mechanical Engineer – Sheet Metal Design (Autodesk Inventor)

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our team, specialising in sheet metal design and fabrication. This role will primarily involve using Autodesk Inventor to design, develop, and optimise sheet metal components for manufacturing.

You will work closely with our production and project teams to deliver accurate, efficient, and cost-effective designs.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our team, specialising in sheet metal design and fabrication. This role will primarily involve using Autodesk Inventor to design, develop, and optimise sheet metal components for manufacturing.

You will work closely with our production and project teams to deliver accurate, efficient, and cost-effective designs.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop sheet metal components and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor

- Produce detailed 3D models, flat patterns, and manufacturing drawings

- Prepare DXF files for CNC cutting, laser cutting,



or punching

- Ensure designs are compliant with manufacturing capabilities and tolerances

- Collaborate with workshop teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable

- Modify and improve existing designs for efficiency and cost reduction

- Liaise with suppliers and clients where required

- Maintain accurate documentation and revision control

Skills & Experience

- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar

- Proven experience using Autodesk Inventor (essential)

- Solid experience in sheet metal design and fabrication processes

- Understanding of:

- CNC machining, laser cutting, and bending processes

- Material properties (steel, aluminium, stainless steel)

- Tolerances and manufacturing constraints

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
