The Role
Working within Sulzer's service workshop, your responsibilities will include:
- Operating manual lathes, mills and horizontal borers
- Machining shafts, sleeves, bearing housings, pump casings and rotating equipment components
- Repairing and refurbishing industrial pumps, electric motors and associated equipment
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Measuring and inspecting components using precision measuring equipment
- Setting up and machining one-off and repair components to tight tolerances
- Assisting with dismantling, inspection and reassembly of rotating equipment
- Maintaining workshop housekeeping and adhering to quality standards
- Working safely within company procedures and workshop safety requirements
About You
To be successful, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Manual Machinist
- Strong experience operating manual lathes and milling machines
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience machining to close tolerances
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality workmanship
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Commitment to workplace health and safety
Desirable
- Trade Qualification in Engineering (Machining)
- Experience with horizontal boring machines
- Forklift or Overhead Crane Licence
- Experience working on pumps, electric motors or rotating equipment
- Experience within heavy industrial, mining or manufacturing environments
