ABOUT THE ROLE

The AWU is seeking a passionate Trainer to join our Education Team. The role is responsible for delivering high-quality training sessions to AWU delegates, workplace representatives and Organisers. Training topics include: employment legislation, union representation, industrial relations, and internal HR practices.

The ideal candidate must have an interest in Industrial Relations, union organising and a commitment to empowering workers through education.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging and accessible training using existing AWU-developed materials
- Facilitate training on topics such as workplace rights, delegate skills, WHS, leadership, and IR legislation.




- Travel to regional worksites to deliver face-to-face training (with all travel fully compensated)
- Work collaboratively with organisers, staff and union leadership to support internal development and delegate capacity-building.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Commitment to union values and worker empowerment
- Strong understanding of employment law, industrial relations, and union campaigns
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, whilst maintaining a strong individual work ethic.
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel within NSW

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

- Previous union or delegate experience
- Experience delivering training or education, particularly in adult learning or workplace settings
- Experience working in a team environment
- Certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
