About the Role

We're looking for a Project Manager or Project Engineer with a strong background in estimating and pre-contracts to join our Rocklea team. This role bridges technical delivery and commercial bidding — you'll bring an on-site engineering background to the tender table, translating scope and drawings into accurate, first-principles costings and constructible bids, then staying close to the technical delivery of the projects you help win.

This is a outstanding opportunity for someone who understands construction from the ground up and wants to move into (or continue growing) a role where estimating, tendering and commercial acumen are just as important as technical delivery.

Estimating & Precontracts Scope

First-Principles Costing: Calculating breakdown expenses for labour, plant, materials, and subcontractor quotes.

Tender & Bid Preparation: Assembling complete documentation, scope packages, and commercial proposals.

Constructability Reviews: Utilising on-site engineering background to evaluate staging, sequencing, and technical constraints.

Subcontractor Buyout: Negotiating pricing, managing market enquiries, and conducting scope gap analysis.

Project Engineering & Delivery Phase





Technical Compliance: Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and quality assurance standards.

Schedule Optimisation: Monitoring milestones and coordinating site resources with master programs.

Risk Mitigation: Identifying variations, tracking project metrics, and resolving technical site queries.

To Be Successful, You'll Need

Technical Skills:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, construction management or a closely related field.

Demonstrated first-principles estimating experience, ideally in pipeline, civil, or buried services construction.

Sound understanding of engineering drawings, specifications and the ability to check deliverables for accuracy.

Experience preparing tenders, bid packages and commercial proposals.

Soft Skills:

Strong commercial acumen paired with genuine on-site/technical credibility.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and overcome challenges effectively.

Strong communication and negotiation skills for subcontractor buyout and client interface.

Highly organised, with the ability to move between precontracts and live project delivery.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project; estimating software experience highly regarded.

Additional Requirements

Current driver's licence and White Card.

Ability to work in a team environment and follow safety procedures.

Experience within Construction, Engineering, Mining or Oil & Gas industries highly regarded.

This role is anchored in the Rocklea office, with some FIFO Project roster work required.
