Your new company Hays is proud to be partnering with a respected Tasmanian local council to recruit an experienced Workers Compensation Officer on a contract basis. This organisation is committed to supporting the wellbeing of its workforce and is seeking a specialist who can provide expert guidance across workers compensation, injury management and return to work processes.
Your new role Working closely with managers, employees, insurers and medical professionals, you will manage a portfolio of workers' compensation claims and support positive return to work outcomes. The workload will vary depending on the number of active claims, with a small number of claims currently being managed.You will act as a trusted advisor, ensuring claims are managed appropriately, stakeholders remain informed, and employees receive the support required throughout their recovery and return to work journey. While there will be some in office engagement required, the majority of the role can be undertaken remotely, including meetings conducted via Microsoft Teams.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring proven experience managing workers' compensation claims, coordinating return to work programmes and liaising with medical practitioners, rehabilitation providers and insurers. You will have strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to ask the right questions, provide practical advice and navigate complex situations. Experience working within a local government environment will be highly regarded, although candidates with a strong workers compensation background from other sectors are encouraged to apply.
