Your new company

This organisation plays a vital role in delivering safe, reliable, and customer-focused public transport services to the community. Every day, its teams help people move confidently around their city—whether travelling to work, school, or local destinations.

Your new role

As a Network Officer, you will be a visible frontline presence across the transport network, supporting passengers, promoting safe travel, and ensuring compliance with conditions of travel. This is a dynamic, people-focused role where no two days are the same. You will work in pairs or small teams, travelling throughout the network, engaging with hundreds of passengers daily, and balancing strong customer service with compliance and enforcement responsibilities. Following successful completion of Translink Authorised Person training, you will be appointed as an Authorised Person under legislation. In this capacity, you will exercise legislative powers to request passenger details and issue warning notices and infringement notices for fare evasion and behavioural offences across the bus network and public transport infrastructure. You will be expected to apply legislation and policy consistently, even in challenging situations, while always maintaining professionalism, fairness, and respect.

Key responsibilities include:

- Conduct routine ticket inspections and promote compliance with conditions of travel
- Exercise legislative authority to request passenger details and issue warnings and infringement notices where required
- Engage with passengers, providing clear information on ticketing products and network services
- Confidently manage sensitive or challenging interactions using strong communication and de-escalation skills

- Maintain a visible safety and compliance presence onboard services and at transport infrastructure
- Accurately complete reports and documentation for all enforcement and customer interactions
- Work collaboratively with a partner across shifting locations and operational priorities
- Participate in community engagement activities such as school visits, outreach programs, and local events
- Support drivers, respond to incidents, and collaborate with stakeholders including Queensland Police when required

What you'll need to succeed

- Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with a diverse range of people
- Confidence to remain calm and exercise sound judgement in challenging or confrontational situations
- Ability to apply rules, legislation, and procedures consistently and fairly
- Resilience and professionalism when managing conflict and difficult conversations
- Positive written skills for reporting and documentation
- Comfort working in a physically active role, spending extended periods on your feet in a dynamic environment
- A high level of personal accountability and integrity

Pre-employment requirements include:

medical assessment, psychometric testing, and police check.

What you get in return

- Competitive base salary of $85,000 + superannuation
- Permanent full time role with predictable rosters
- 4 × 9.5-hour shifts per week on a rotating 4-week roster
- No overnight shifts and only one weekend per month
- Extensive paid training, including: First Aid certification
- Self-defence and de-escalation training
- Translink Authorised Person training leading to formal appointment
- Flights and accommodation provided for Sunshine Coast/Brisbane training (if required)
