The Opportunity

As part of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) portfolio, Student Services supports student success, engagement and retention by providing high-quality advice and support from first enquiry through to graduation. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for prospective and current students, delivering responsive, student-centred assistance across phone, email and face-to-face channels. Working as part of a collaborative and high-performing team, you will connect students with the information, services and specialist support they need, contributing to a positive student experience and helping students thrive throughout their journey at UniSC.
You will
- Effectively manage student matters received via phone, email and face to face inquiries;
- Proactively refer students to relevant specialist staff and follow up if required; and
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff and clients through professional communications and efficient use of electronic records systems.

You are a customer-focused professional who is passionate about delivering exceptional service and creating positive experiences for every student. With strong communication and interpersonal skills, you build trust quickly, respond with empathy and professionalism, and confidently support people from diverse backgrounds. Calm under pressure and highly organised, you can effectively manage competing priorities, solve problems, and navigate sensitive situations with sound judgement. Your collaborative approach, resilience and commitment to service excellence enable you to thrive in a fast-paced environment while making a meaningful contribution to student success.
You will possess:
- Completion of an Associate Diploma, combined with experience in a customer focused environment,
or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and training;
- Demonstrated experience and ability to recognise and respond appropriately to a range of student’s inquiries;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to display high levels of empathy and effective conflict resolution skills, whilst maintaining confidentiality;
- A high level of digital literacy including experience with CRM systems;
- An ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use initiative, develop effective solutions and attend to multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines; and
- An understanding of the challenges that might arise supporting students in distress.
