The Engineering Manager (Civil) ensures consistent, high‑quality delivery across all projects by leading design coordination, and client-facing engineering engagement. The role acts as the single point of contact for design and technical matters, strengthening client relationships, improving design outcomes, and streamlining documentation and review processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure consistency of engineering delivery, design standards and technical quality across all civil projects.
- Standardise construction details and design approaches, applying lessons learned to improve efficiency, compliance and delivery outcomes.
- Provide technical oversight to ensure design outputs meet legislative, regulatory, statutory, safety and client requirements.
- Support the delivery of low-cost, high-value engineering services that build trust and position BY Group as a partner of choice.
- Strengthen client relationships through consistent engagement and clear communication.
- Manage the passage of technical information between clients and project teams.
- Engage and coordinate internal and external design resources to meet project requirements.
- Control the design interface with clients, ensuring clarity, alignment and timely resolution of design issues.
- Coordinate design activities across engineering, construction and project teams to support efficient execution.
- Lead, mentor and develop project delivery teams, including identifying training needs and addressing underperformance.

Qualifications and Competencies
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in civil construction within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 environment.
- Proven track record managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong technical capability in civil engineering design, constructability and compliance.
- High-level problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to interpret and apply contract documentation.
- Ability to lead, develop and performance‑manage operational leaders.
