About the Organisation Our client is a large and complex government organisation undertaking significant data and digital transformation initiatives to enhance data-driven decision-making, operational performance, and enterprise governance capabilities. The organisation is focused on establishing contemporary data governance frameworks, improving data quality and integrity, and enabling the responsible use of data across the business through modern data platforms and governance practices.
About the Role We are seeking an experienced Data Governance and Quality Analyst to play a key role in establishing and embedding enterprise-wide data governance capabilities across a large-scale organisation. Working within a high-performing data function, you will help develop and implement data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures while supporting initiatives that improve data quality, integrity, privacy, and trustworthiness. You will work closely with business, technology, and program teams to ensure data is managed effectively throughout its lifecycle and delivers value to decision-makers across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to major enterprise programs while helping shape modern data governance capabilities across contemporary data and analytics platforms.
Key Accountabilities and Outcomes
- Support the implementation of enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures.
- Assist in establishing and embedding best-practice data governance capabilities across the organisation.
- Define and support data leadership roles,
responsibilities, accountabilities, and stewardship models.
- Contribute to the development of enterprise data authorisation models and role-based access controls.
- Support initiatives focused on data quality, integrity, usability, and trustworthiness.
- Implement and maintain data lifecycle management practices, including retention and disposal requirements.
- Assist with master data management and reference data management initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with privacy, confidentiality, ethical-use, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to embed governance practices into contemporary data and analytics platforms.
- Utilise and support data governance tooling such as Microsoft Purview, Informatica, Collibra, Atlan, and Alation.
- Develop and maintain data catalogues, data inventories, metadata standards, and business glossaries.
- Support data lineage, metadata management, and governance reporting initiatives.
- Monitor and report on data governance performance through KPIs, risk registers, and maturity assessments.
- Assist in driving continuous improvement across data governance and data quality practices.
- Promote the responsible and effective use of enterprise data across the organisation.
Desired Experience and Capabilities
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Data Governance, Data Quality, or related role.
- Proven experience establishing data governance frameworks within large and complex organisations.
- Robust experience developing and implementing data governance policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience establishing data ownership, stewardship, accountability, and governance operating models.
- Experience implementing data lifecycle management, data quality frameworks, and governance controls.
- Strong knowledge of master data management, reference data management, metadata management, and data cataloguing.
- Hands‑on experience with contemporary data governance platforms including Purview, Informatica, Collibra, Atlan, or Alation.
- Experience developing and maintaining data inventories, business glossaries, metadata repositories, and governance artefacts.
- Experience measuring and reporting on governance outcomes through KPIs, data maturity assessments, and risk registers.
- Strong understanding of data privacy, confidentiality, ethical-use principles, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to engage effectively with business stakeholders, technology teams, and governance bodies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Management, Data Management, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline.
- Relevant certifications in Data Governance, Data Management, Information Management, or related fields.
- Experience implementing governance capabilities within modern cloud‑based data and analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of enterprise data governance frameworks and industry best practices.
