Due to an increased demand within our business, SYPAQ are seekinga Communications Network Engineer to work on a Defence project. The contract is upto June 2027 plus potential extensions. This is an office-based role in Canberra.

Overview

Our Client are seeking an experienced specialist in Communications and Data Networks and Integration to provide expertise into the production, review, update and management of their capability project documentation and supporting artefacts (including the conduct of workshops as required).

This role will provide specialist systems engineering, technical support for integration and interoperability to support the design and development of coherent and integrated IAMD architecture across the Integrated Force. Activities will focus on capability definition, requirements development, systems integration, architecture development, technical analysis and stakeholder engagement within a Joint system-of-systems environment.

The role will contribute to Communications and Data Networks and Integration of IAMD systems, and Air, Land and Sea Weapon Systems (e.g. GBAD) and should include experience in:

- conduct of communications and data network, bearer and system integration development
- conduct requirements analysis for IAMD C2 networks, bearers and integration




- conduct system design for the integration of sensors and weapons systems across all domains into an IAMD architecture
- support Tactical Data Links and Defence Networks and related engineering services
- support to analysis, review and concept development of multi-domain systems
- support to certification of networks and integration standards
- Assist in the development, review and maintenance of IAMD networks and integrated capabilities across a broad range of technical disciplines including networks, sensing, Integrated Fire Control, weapons data link, Security and Command and Control.
- Assisting the IAMD Program and Capability Development Division with conducting both IAMD network and integration capability analysis, research and development. Collaborate with Force Integration and Force Design Divisions, Defence Science & Technology Group and other relevant Stakeholders in development and progression of such networks and integration requirements.
- Deliver technical assessments, design reviews, trade studies, configuration-controlled interface definitions and artefacts (e.g. OCDs), and systems engineering inputs to mature and de-risk integration options and requirements.

Essential criteria

- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience supporting Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD), systems engineering and systems integration activities within the Australian Defence Force or a comparable defence environment.



The response should demonstrate experience contributing to the development and integration of complex, networked Defence capabilities within a joint system-of-systems environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience supporting Defence capability development activities, including capability definition, requirements development, options analysis, technical assessments and the development of capability documentation within the ADF Capability System.
- Demonstrated experience applying systems engineering principles to complex Defence capability projects, including architecture development, interface definition, interoperability analysis and systems integration activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Command and Control (C2) systems, Combat Management Systems (CMS), Tactical Data Links, Defence networks and interoperability considerations relevant to joint and coalition operations.

The successful applicant must be an Australian Citizen with an existing Negative Vetting 1 security clearance. Negative Vetting 2 or TSPV will be preferred.
