The Role
Based at our Caboolture HQ, you’ll be fitting and checking high-quality 4x4 and touring accessories on top of the line American trucks. You’ll work from clear job cards, follow proven systems, and be trusted to make good decisions when things don’t go exactly to plan.
This role suits someone who:

- Notices the small details
- Takes ownership of their work
- Doesn’t need to be micromanaged
What You’ll Be Doing
- Installing and torque-checking accessories including:
- Towbars, roof racks, bull bars, side steps
- Canopies, drawer systems, cargo solutions
- Brake controller mounting and basic 12V pre-wire
- Working methodically from fitment guides, torque specs, and job sheets
- Maintaining exceptionally tidy workmanship (routing, fastening, finish)
- Completing test fits, road tests, and handover notes
- Flagging issues, variations, or risks early, not after the fact
- Supporting teammates and helping apprentices learn correct, protected fitting practices
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- 2+ years’ experience as an Accessory Fitter, Installer, or Light Vehicle Technician
- 12V knowledge (pre-wire, brake controllers, accessory circuits)
- Suspension knowledge in the 4WD industry
- Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence using hand and power tools
- Comfortable following procedures, specs, and safety standards
- Able to work independently and take responsibility for outcomes
- Current driver’s licence and full Australian working rights
Highly Regarded
- 4x4, touring, or truck build experience
- Light Rigid licence
- Auto-electrical exposure
Why Big Dog Builds?
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Paid overtime and penalties
- Ongoing training with major accessory brands
- Clean, organised, well-equipped workshop bays
- Real breaks, realistic job times, and a stable roster
- A team that values standards, not shortcuts
You’ll be trusted to do your job properly and supported when you need it.
