The Team

The Clinical Nurse Consultant – Gastrostomy & Enteral Feeding Care is part of the Surgical and Perioperative Services team at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania's largest tertiary hospital. The role works collaboratively with a broad multidisciplinary team to support patients requiring gastrostomy and enteral feeding devices.

The team is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care through evidence-based practice, clinical leadership, education and continuous quality improvement. Working across the continuum of care, the team supports patients, carers and healthcare professionals to optimise outcomes and ensure safe and effective management of gastrostomy and enteral feeding devices.

The service plays a key role in promoting patient safety and quality, developing and implementing best-practice standards, models of care, policies and clinical guidelines. Through strong collaboration and clinical expertise, the team supports innovation, workforce development and service improvement initiatives that enhance patient care across Tasmania.

The Role

- Provide professional advanced clinical advice, patient information documents, leadership, support and direction in the development and implementation of Gastrostomy & Enteral Feeding devices for patients and carers.
- Act as a clinical resource and mentor to other senior clinical leaders who are responsible for, and influence the delivery of, appropriate, consistent and safe care for Gastrostomy & Enteral Feeding services.
- Promote a patient safety approach by working with individual clinical units to ensure the understanding and application of guidelines and policies relating to Gastrostomy & Enteral Feeding are adhered to.

You will need:

- Extensive knowledge of, and commitment to, best practice in Gastrostomy & Enteral Feeding devices management and patient care.




- Broad clinical and operational experience with inpatient and outpatient Surgical and Perioperative Services in the acute setting with a demonstrated understanding of patient safety.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, mediation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to effectively liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and have a demonstrated ability to influence and motivate staff.

Details of appointment

Permanent, part time, da y worker position, working up to60 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

$118,297to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). O ur Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

- Salary range is in accordance withNurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Holds, or is working towards, Stomal Therapy postgraduate qualifications.
