Web & SEO Project Manager

Gold Coast | Full-time | *******@yakk.com.au

If you like bringing order to chaos, keeping clients happy, and getting websites out the door without the drama, keep reading.

Who we are

We're Yakk. A performance-driven digital marketing agency on the Gold Coast, made up of strategists, creatives and straight-talkers, with the occasional office dog wandering through. We build strong brands, run ads that actually work, and deliver marketing that gets results, not just reports.

Great work starts face to face, runs on trust, and finishes with people doing what they said they'd do. Zero ego, straight feedback, no fluff.

The role

You'll own the end-to-end delivery of web projects at Yakk, from first scoping conversation through to launch. That means writing the brief, running the kick-off, keeping multiple builds moving at once, and making sure nothing goes live without a proper QA and SEO sign-off.

You'll work closely with our Senior Web Developer, the design team, and our SEO lead. You'll be the person clients call when they have a question about their build, and the person the team chats to when something needs unblocking.

What the job entails 1. Website Scoping & Quoting

- Analyse client requirements and break a site down into the pages it needs

- Identify the specific features, functionality, or technical considerations each build calls for

- Scope approximate design and development hours per page, plus any other site elements as needed

2. Client Communication, Onboarding & Ongoing Project Management

- Define the full scope of the project, and set clear expectations with the client from the outset

- SEO client communication. Having regular check-ins with clients and keeping them in the loop, and going over reports on how SEO is going

- Organise access to the assets and requirements needed to build the site

- Coordinate content by determining what the client produces vs. what Yakk produces, then help gather and assemble it

- Maintain visibility over the progress of every web project

- Keep communication flowing between the development team, the design team, and the client

- Maintain client relationships and project momentum through regular cadence catch-ups

- Review and QA each build against the approved scope before it reaches the client, catching gaps or errors early

- Manage client approval items and follow up to keep projects progressing

- Schedule all projects so timelines and pipelines are clear across the team

- Support the paid media team with landing page development and scheduling accordingly

3. Small Support Requests

- Handle simple web changes directly on Word Press, Shopify, or various email marketing platforms, such as Mailchimp, Klaviyo, or Hub Spot

- Delegate anything requiring more expertise to the development team

What you'll bring Skills & Experience

- 3+ years managing web and SEO projects in an agency

- 3+ years of managing clients' communications and expectations in an agency

- Hands-on familiarity with Word Press and Elementor, enough to make straightforward changes directly and to speak credibly with both developers and clients

- Comfortable making straightforward changes across Shopify and email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Hub Spot), or a willingness to get up to speed on them quickly

- A solid grasp of the web build lifecycle (design → development → content → QA → launch) and what each stage needs to keep moving

- Comfortable working with hosting and staging environments (e.g. WP Engine), including the difference between staging and live

- Able to read a design file (Figma) and translate it into a explicit scope of pages, features, and estimated hours

- Strong documentation habits that keep project records current, so anyone can see exactly where a project stands

- Experience managing clients directly: setting expectations, obtaining and chasing approvals, and handling the occasional tricky conversation

- Able to coordinate across development, design, and paid media, keeping everyone working to the same timeline

- Ability to manage billing and invoicing for clients relating to web builds, support, hosting, or EDMs

- Up to speed with the latest developments in AI for web, and able to put them to practical use, such as using tools like Claude to prototype or build out basic websites and speed up delivery

Attributes & Approach

- A willingness to help evolve the role into a more structured, process-driven function, improving consistency,

setting clearer client expectations, and making delivery more reliable

- Highly organised, able to juggle multiple concurrent projects without letting detail slip

- Proactive and takes ownership, chasing things down rather than waiting to be asked

- A clear, confident communicator who can translate technical detail into plain language for clients

- Calm under competing deadlines, with sound judgement on what to prioritise when everything feels urgent

- Detail-oriented enough to spot the gap between what was scoped and what was built before the client does

- Commercially aware, protecting project scope and margins, and flagging scope creep early

What Good Looks Like

- Projects land on time, on scope, and on brief, with no surprises at launch

- Clients always know what's happening next and by when

- The development team is briefed clearly and never left blocked waiting on missing information or decisions

- Builds match what was scoped and approved, because they've been checked before they reach the client

- Timelines and pipelines are visible to the whole team at any point

Nice to haves

- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS for quick changes beyond the page builder

- An eye for SEO fundamentals, so sites are structured well for search from the day they launch

- Exposure to modern build workflows such as Figma to code or headless and Next.js builds

Why Yakk

We're not precious about hierarchy, and we're all about good people. Good ideas win, regardless of who's chair they came from. We take the work seriously and ourselves not so much, there's usually a dog wandering the office and someone's always up for a coffee. You'll be trusted to own your patch, called out kindly when you drop the ball, and backed properly when you nail it. If you like a team that argues about how to make the work better, then goes to lunch together, you'll fit right in.

- Real ownership. You're running web delivery, not babysitting a backlog

- A team that actually talks to each other. Design, paid media, content and web all work together (all out of our Gold Coast office - nothing outsourced!)

- Interesting clients across a genuine range of industries

- A growing agency, so the role grows too

- Gold Coast (Southport) based, full-time, in-office, real energy

Our philosophy is simple. We just want to do valuable sh*t, with good people, and get good results

Sound like you?

Please note - this is an in-house role, and you will be required in this office full time.
