About The Role
The Strategic Consultant - RAP & Community Engagement is a mid-level consulting role responsible for designing, drafting, and delivering high-quality Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) and supporting broader First Nations strategic consulting projects. Reporting to an experience Senior Consultant, this role will work collaboratively with a junior research/consulting assistant, strengthening Yarnn Up's delivery capability during a period of organisational growth and change. You will guide organisations across employment, procurement, and community engagement strategies, helping them navigate the reconciliation journey through the development and implementation of Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) whilst developing sustainable strategic frameworks for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement.
Responsibilities Of The Role
- Lead the drafting, structuring, and refinement of RAPs from design through to final delivery.
- Translate consultation insights into clear, culturally appropriate, actionable strategic documents.
- Ensure alignment with client organisational strategy and Reconciliation Australia requirements.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops and consultations to co-design strategies that resonate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Build and maintain respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, ensuring culturally safe and impactful client engagement.
- Engage in continuous knowledge-sharing with communities and stakeholders to enhance client strategies.
- Organise and participate in community sessions to gather insights and refine client approaches for optimal outcomes.
Essential Key Selection Criteria
- This is not an identified role but Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong community ties and a deep understanding of First Nations culture, history, and social dynamics.
- Experience in consulting, policy, ESG, DEI, social impact, or related fields.
- Experience writing structured documents (reports, strategies, frameworks).
- Comprehensive understanding of RAP frameworks, including experience in employment, procurement, and social impact initiatives.
- Ability to design and implement frameworks or policies that drive positive, sustainable outcomes.
- Communication and Facilitation Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, ideally with experience facilitating workshops and meetings.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled in relationship-building, committed to creating inclusive, culturally respectful environments.
