As a Security Architect

You will be passionate about shaping secure, forward-thinking solutionsthat protect millions of users and systems. In this role, you’ll be a trustedexpert, helping define and embed security architecture and standards acrossmajor strategic initiatives.

Crucial: We are seeking hands-on Security Architects with provenexperience in cyber architecture assessment. This capability is highly valuedbecause it ensures you can directly evaluate and design secure solutions ratherthan only oversee the process.

While leadership experience is respected, this role is best suited forprofessionals who have personally delivered architecture assessments andsolution designs, not just led teams executing the work.

Risk assessment experience is advantageous, but your primary expertiseshould be in security solution assessment, as this is the core skill we’relooking for.

You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to providesecurity thought leadership, steer architectural decisions, and make sure oursolutions are resilient, future-ready, and aligned with Cyber SecurityStrategy.

What you’ll be doing

- Define and govern securityarchitectures across major tech initiatives.
- Ensure alignment with Telstra’ssecurity policies, principles, and risk frameworks.
- Lead security quality assuranceactivities and support operational readiness.
- Collaborate with architects,engineers, vendors, and business teams to embed appropriate securitycontrols.
- Evaluate new securitytechnologies and help shape our capability roadmaps.
- Create reusable frameworks andpatterns to simplify future projects.
- Translate technical risk intobusiness context — enabling informed, confident decisions.
- Support the creation andgovernance of enterprise security strategies and standards.
- Build solid relationshipsacross the tech industry to stay ahead of emerging threats andopportunities.

What you bring

- 5+ years in complex securityarchitecture and solutioning.
- Expertise in securityrequirements, control definition, and risk assessment.
- Clear communicator — able totranslate technical ideas into business value.
- Comfortable working throughambiguity and shifting priorities.
- Familiarity withService-Oriented and RESTful architecture design.
- Experience with securecloud-based solutions.
- Exposure to AI/ML securityconcepts, including generative and agentic AI.

Certifications that would shine

- Security/Risk: CISSP, CISM,CRISC, SABSA
