We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and highly motivated Work Health & Safety Manager to join our organisation in a diverse leadership role that combines safety leadership, systems management, compliance oversight, and business improvement.

As the WHS Manager, you will take ownership of the organisation's Work Health & Safety framework, ensuring systems remain effective, compliant, practical, and aligned with business objectives. Success in this role requires more than technical WHS knowledge. We are looking for a critical thinker and problem solver who can analyse complex information, identify trends, challenge assumptions, and develop practical solutions that improve organisational performance.

You will work closely with leaders, employees, and stakeholders across the organisation, building strong relationships, providing trusted advice, and creating an environment where safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement are shared responsibilities.

A significant focus of the role is the development, maintenance, and continual improvement of management systems, compliance frameworks, reporting processes, and organisational controls. You will be responsible for transforming data and compliance information into meaningful insights that support informed decision-making and proactive risk management.

This is an onsite position and is not available as a hybrid or work-from-home arrangement.

In addition to WHS responsibilities, you may be required to support broader organisational compliance initiatives and assist other departments in achieving key compliance objectives, including elements of recruitment and human resources administration.

Key Responsibilities

Work Health & Safety Leadership

- Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the WHS Management System.
- Champion a positive, proactive, and supportive safety culture across all business units.
- Provide visible leadership and coaching to managers, supervisors, and employees to strengthen safety ownership and accountability.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels to encourage consultation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with NSW WHS legislation, relevant Codes of Practice, and organisational standards.
- Facilitate risk assessments, hazard identification activities, and verification of critical risk controls.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, investigations, and compliance reviews.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
- Monitor organisational safety performance and ensure identified risks are effectively managed.




- Support emergency preparedness, contractor management, and consultation processes.

Systems, Compliance & Governance

- Take ownership of the development, maintenance, effectiveness, and continuous improvement of organisational management systems.
- Ensure policies, procedures, registers, workflows, and compliance frameworks remain current, accurate, and fit for purpose.
- Maintain compliance registers, reporting frameworks, and management system documentation with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and support accreditation requirements.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and implement required system and process improvements.
- Utilise safety and compliance software systems, including DoneSafe, to manage incidents, actions, risks, reporting, and performance monitoring.
- Support environmental, quality, governance, and broader compliance initiatives as required.

Reporting, Critical Analysis & Performance Improvement

- Prepare high-level reports, presentations, and recommendations for executive leadership.
- Analyse organisational performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and emerging risks.
- Monitor and report on:
- Critical risks and control effectiveness
- Lead and lag safety indicators
- Incident trends and systemic issues
- Audit findings and compliance performance
- Corrective action status and organisational improvement opportunities

- Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to interpret complex information and identify practical solutions.
- Provide evidence-based recommendations that support business improvement, risk reduction, and stronger compliance outcomes.

Organisational Support

- Support other departments in achieving compliance and governance objectives.
- Assist with recruitment and onboarding compliance requirements as required.
- Participate in organisational improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.
- Contribute to building consistent systems, processes, and controls across the organisation.
- Undertake additional duties aligned with the scope of the role and your skills and experience.

Injury Management & Workers Compensation

- Support the organisation's obligations as a self-insured employer in New South Wales.
- Assist with injury management, return-to-work coordination, and workers compensation compliance requirements as required.

Essential Skills & Experience

- Qualification in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in WHS, compliance, risk management, governance, or management systems roles.
- Strong understanding of NSW WHS legislation and workers compensation requirements.
- Proven experience developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving management systems and compliance frameworks.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality documentation and records.
- Advanced critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify systemic issues, assess risks, and implement practical solutions.
- Solid capability in analysing complex information, data, trends, and performance indicators.
- Experience preparing high-level reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior leaders and executives.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and report on critical risks, lead and lag indicators, compliance performance, and organisational trends.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, consultation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as a team player while also operating autonomously when required.
- Strong leadership capability with experience influencing positive safety outcomes and organisational change.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Highly Desirable

- Experience with ISO management systems, including ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001.
- Experience using DoneSafe safety and compliance management software.
- Experience supporting broader compliance, governance, HR, or recruitment processes.
- Experience working within complex or multi-site operational environments.
