As a Boiler Operator at Rocky Point Sugar Mill, you will play a crucial role in the power generation operations at our SEQ biomass cogeneration plant located in Woongoolba Gold Coast), Queensland. This full-time position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the 30MW 120tph biomass boiler, ensuring a continuous and reliable supply of steam and electricity to support our NEM export and sugar milling operations.
What you'll be doing
- Monitor and control the operation of an industrial biomass watertube boiler, including starting up, shutting down, and adjusting control points
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on boiler equipment, such as checking safety devices, water levels, and fuel systems
- Respond to alarms and troubleshoot issues to maintain optimal boiler performance and prevent downtime
- Housekeeping of plant
- Maintain detailed logs and reports on boiler operations and any maintenance activities
- Collaborate with the wider engineering and operations teams to identify and implement process improvements
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations
What we're looking for
- Boiler Advanced High Risk Work License
- Ability to work 12-hour continuous shifts on a 4 on / 4 off rotating day/night roster
- Demonstrated experience as a boiler operator or in a similar industrial environment, preferably within the power generation or sugar milling industries
- Technical aptitude and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve boiler-related issues
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on safety and environmental compliance
What we offer
- 12-hour shifts
- 4 on / 4 off roster (i.e. 4 days on, 4 off, 4 nights on, 4 off)
- 150% and 200% overtime rates after 38 hours
