About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists within our Planned Surgery Management Team at St. Vincent’s for a motivated Surgical Liaison Nurse who is seeking a challenging and rewarding role as part of the Endoscopy Service.
As the Planned Surgery Surgical Liaison Nurse, you will co‑coordinate, negotiate and manage the transition of care of patients throughout the continuum.
You will be primarily responsible for managing the Planned Surgery waiting list according to the Access policy, identify and triage suitable patients for endoscopy treatment.
Duties include:
- Aware of the Planned Surgery Wait list Access Policy principles with regards to when patients are placed on the Planned Surgery waiting list
- Liaise with medical staff and other relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate case management of patients
- Monitor cancellations and arrange appropriate follow up
- Monitor Category 1 patients to ensure they are treated within 30 days.
- Manage Category 2 & 3 patients to ensure they are treated within their designated time frame set by the Department of Health

As an experienced, motivated and passionate Registered Nurse you will bring demonstrated knowledge and commitment to a patient‑centred care framework. Your strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team will see you thrive in our multidisciplinary team environment.
You will also have:
- Current AHPRA Registration
- Ability to work in an ever‑changing and quick paced environment
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
- Experience in the relevant area of clinical practice
- Awareness of the Planned Surgery Access Policy and the Department of Health requirements.
- Possess advanced negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate an ability to develop, plan, promote and market new care concepts
- Understanding of pre‑admission, admission and discharge planning principles
- Possess sound analytical, judgment and problem‑solving skills
- Post Graduate Qualifications and/or Endoscopy experience are highly desirable
- Current National criminal history check or willing to obtain
Classification
Classifications for this position will be YU11 ($111,930.00 per annum).

About the Department
The Planned Surgery Management Team coordinates and case manage patients that are on the St Vincent’s Hospital planned surgery waiting list in accordance with the planned surgery waiting list policy and the Department of Health Planned Surgery Access Policy. The Planned Surgery Management team is responsible for the case management all patients across the surgical specialties at SVHM.
