About the role

The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is seeking a Senior Lawyer to join the Office of the General Counsel. This is a unique opportunity to provide trusted legal advice on a diverse range of complex matters that support the operations of the Victorian Parliament, including:

- Provide practical, risk-based legal advice across a diverse range of matters, including property and leasing, contracts and procurement, employment and industrial relations, and statutory interpretation.
- Draft, review and negotiate complex legal agreements while partnering with stakeholders to support sound decision‑making and organisational objectives.
- Identify and manage legal risks, undertake legal research and analysis,



and provide trusted advice on complex and sensitive issues across the parliamentary departments.

About you

You are an experienced legal professional who provides practical, solutions-focused advice and thrives in a complex and dynamic environment. You have:

- Strong experience in commercial legal matters, particularly property and leasing, contracts and procurement, with employment and industrial relations experience highly regarded.
- Excellent analytical, drafting and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to effectively develop expertise in new areas of law, assess legal risks and provide transparent, pragmatic advice.
- Proven ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships, exercise sound skilled judgement and manage sensitive matters with a high degree of autonomy.
