We are seeking a talented and passionate Cafe Chef to join the team at Our Tribe Cafe on Kirra Beach, Queensland. This is a casual position that offers flexibility and the opportunity to work in a vibrant cafe environment. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality cafe fare in a fast-paced kitchen setting, working alongside a dedicated team to deliver exceptional culinary experiences to our customers. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic hospitality environment and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of food preparation and presentation.

Key responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of cafe menu items including breakfast dishes, lunch specials, and baked goods to consistent quality standards

Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen workspace in accordance with food safety regulations and cafe procedures

Manage cooking times and temperatures to ensure meals are prepared efficiently and served promptly to customers

Follow recipes and plating guidelines to maintain consistency across all dishes

Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and address any special requests or dietary requirements

Assist with food preparation, stock management and inventory checks as required

Contribute to menu development and suggest new dishes or improvements to existing offerings

Uphold high standards of food presentation and quality control

What we're looking for

Proven experience working as a chef or cook in a cafe, restaurant or similar hospitality workplace





Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods suitable for cafe menus

Comprehensive understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and compliance requirements

Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple cooking tasks simultaneously

Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff

Attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality, consistently presented dishes

Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to adapt to changing menu demands and cafe schedules

A genuine passion for food and creating memorable dining experiences for customers

Must be able to work weekends
