Role Overview

As a full-time Play Therapist based in Melbourne, VIC, you will deliver therapeutic services to children and families, including assessment, treatment planning, and evidence-based play interventions.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities





- Conduct individual play therapy sessions tailored to young clients' developmental needs.
- Collaborate closely with parents, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to support early development, emotional regulation, social skills, and overall wellbeing.
- Develop and execute evidence-based treatment plans while maintaining precise, timely clinical records.
- Participate actively in case reviews, care planning, and team meetings.
- Contribute to ongoing service improvement, upholding clinical safety, safeguarding standards, and inclusive practice.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

- Therapeutic Expertise: Demonstrated skills in Play Therapy and Child Therapy, with clinical experience working with children and young people.
- Qualified Registration: Registration or eligibility as a Registered Play Therapist (e.g., APPTA), or equivalent professional registration with a recognized therapeutic body.
- Education: Relevant tertiary qualification in Play Therapy, Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or a related discipline.
- Complementary Modalities: Experience or training in complementary creative modalities (e.g., Art Therapy) is highly desirable.
- Safeguarding: A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) and commitment to child safety standards.
- Clinical Core: Strong communication and rapport-building skills with children, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Values-Driven: Commitment to person-centered, recovery-focused, and neuro-affirming practice across diverse communities. Experience in mental health, disability, or early childhood intervention settings is highly regarded.
