About LD Auto Works

LD Auto Works is a motor service centre based in Dandenong South, servicing customers throughout Dandenong South and surrounding areas.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a suitably trade-qualified and experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to join our workshop team.

The successful applicant will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, maintaining and repairing diesel engines and associated mechanical and electrical systems.

Vehicles serviced: Trucks, Heavy commercial vehicles, diesel passenger vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.

- Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and associated components.

- Use diagnostic software and equipment to identify vehicle faults.

- Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other mechanical components.

- Inspect, test, adjust, repair and replace worn or defective mechanical and electrical components.

- Service and repair fuel-injection, braking, transmission, steering, suspension and exhaust systems.

- Inspect vehicles and mechanical systems for roadworthiness.

- Diagnose and repair electrical circuits, wiring and electronic systems in diesel vehicles.

- Service hydraulic and pneumatic systems where applicable.

- Fit tyres and undertake minor welding or component repairs where required and within the employee's competency.

- Maintain accurate servicing, repair and vehicle maintenance records.

- Consult with customers regarding identified faults,



required repairs and completed work.

- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.

- Comply with workplace health and safety procedures and applicable automotive industry requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

- A Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology or

- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.

- At least one years' relevant experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic.

- A current driver's licence.

- The ability and willingness to obtain a National Police Check, if required.

- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, fuel-injection systems, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension and exhaust systems.

- Experience using automotive diagnostic software and equipment.

- Sound knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring and electronic vehicle systems.

- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems where relevant to the position.

- Strong fault-finding, repair and preventative maintenance skills.

- A commitment to protected work practices.

- Good customer service and communication skills.

- A positive attitude and professional work ethic.
