About the Role
The City of Wanneroo is seeking an experienced, motivated and innovative Community Development Officer to join our Community Development team. The successful candidate will bring expertise in community development, capacity building and project delivery, with a proven ability to work collaboratively with community stakeholders to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
This role contributes to the planning, delivery and evaluation of community development initiatives that strengthen social cohesion, inclusion and wellbeing across the City. Working collaboratively with residents, community groups and key stakeholders, you will:
- Deliver community development projects and partnerships that foster positive outcomes for local communities.
- Develop robust relationships with community groups, community leaders, local service providers and other key stakeholders
- Strengthen community capacity and self‑sufficiency.
- Encourage and enable community‑led initiatives.
- Identify opportunities that respond to emerging community needs and priorities.
- Lead initiatives across a diverse community development portfolio including access and inclusion, age‑friendly communities and reconciliation
About You
You are a team-oriented, adaptable and community‑minded professional with demonstrated experience in community development, stakeholder engagement and project management. You are passionate about working with diverse communities and committed to creating opportunities that promote inclusion, community connections, and wellbeing.
You thrive in a dynamic environment and bring a proactive, solutions‑focused approach to building partnerships and delivering impactful community initiatives while positively contributing to a high‑performing team culture.

- Qualifications in Community Development or a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience;
- Demonstrated experience in a community development or related role;
- Experience in community capacity building and facilitating community‑led initiatives;
- Well‑developed project management and organisational skills;
- Experience developing partnerships with community groups, service providers and key stakeholders;
- Experience engaging with people from diverse, vulnerable and marginalised backgrounds.
Successful applicants may be required to work occasional weekends and evenings which forms part of the ordinary hours of work for this position (additional rates apply).
