The key duties of the position include:

The Role

As a Security Vetting Analyst working within the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA), you will conduct personnel security vetting functions to determine a person’s suitability to be granted an Australian Government security clearance.

You will be responsible for:

- Collecting and assessing sensitive information about security clearance applicants using telephone, video and/or in-person interviews with referees and/or applicants.
- Assessing and analysing information according to the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and other legislation and internal policies and procedures.
- Writing reports using evidence-based analysis, qualified structured judgment methodology and risk management principles.
- You will manage a caseload of security clearance processes, including full clearance assessments, continuous vetting, such as Change of Circumstances, reinstatement & transfer of previous clearances and mandated reporting processes, leading to making a recommendation for AGSVA’s Security Clearance Delegates (SCD).
- Within 12 months, it is expected you will transition to also becoming an SCD. As an SCD, you will review completed cases in accordance with the PSPF and AGSVA’s Quality Assurance and Risk Management frameworks, in order to provide assurance that the applicant is suitable to be granted a security clearance.

About our Team

AGSVA is located in the Defence Security Division within the Department of Defence and is the central vetting agency for the Australian Government. AGSVA conducts security clearance assessments for over 1200 federal, state and territory agencies and industry partners and manages approximately 433,000 active security clearances.



AGSVA operates out of seven cities across Australia (Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Darwin).

AGSVA is a highly skilled and professional organisation dedicated to the provision of security-assured clearances. This work is a critical business enabler for the Australian Government and for Australia’s national and economic security, allowing Government to deliver capabilities and services.

You will be part of a proactive and dynamic AGSVA Vetting Operations team that is trusted and proven, contributing to a positive service delivery culture. You will also be given opportunities to work in other parts of AGSVA, such as on vetting policy and procedures and complex cases.

Eligibility

Security Clearance:

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 1.
